Description:

The Port Lavaca Amateur Radio Club, Inc. was organized to promote the exchange of information and cooperation between members, further radio communications knowledge, techniques, fraternalism and individual operating efficiency, and to conduct club programs and activities so as to advance the general interest and welfare of Amateur Radio in the community.

The membership provides emergency communications to Calhoun County officials, as needed, in the event of disaster, participates in operating events such as ARRL Field Day, as well as the Texas QSO Party and ARRL International DX Contest and others. Additionally, the members act as mentors to aspiring amateurs and can hold licensing test sessions.

The club sponsors the 147.020 analog voice FM repeater, as well as various equipment to facilitate contemporary communication modes and methods.
